Upskilling in Cardiology
We’re continuing to expand our knowledge and skills in veterinary cardiology, with two members of our team currently completing postgraduate coursework and preparing for certification exams. Our specialist radiologist, Aisha Young, has completed in-person coursework and practical training through the European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies (ESAVS), while our sonographer, Suzanne Leibel, has completed online coursework and practical training through Improve Veterinary Education.
Both programs are taught by leading, published veterinary cardiologists and cover a broad range of topics, including myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD), dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), feline cardiomyopathies, congenital heart disease, ECG interpretation, and treatment. A substantial component of both courses has been echocardiography, giving our team the opportunity to further develop our skills in cardiac imaging and better support the assessment of patients with suspected or known heart disease.
